Humanities Luncheons 2002-2003

During the 2002-03 year the Humanities Institute will sponsor 6 luncheons where noted humanities faculty members will informally describe their work in the context of their discipline, before an opening of general conversation. We hope to initiate conversations among people with various interests in several fields so that we can all better understand current work in the humanities.

These luncheons will be held in the
Humanities Institute library, CLAS 300, at 12:30 p.m.,
on the fourth Tuesday of each month.
We will continue until 1:45 p.m. or so.

Because space is limited, we invite faculty to reserve a place for the luncheon by replying to 486-9057, or UCHI@uconn.edu.

HUMAN RIGHTS INITIATIVE: From Ideas to Action

At the completion of the successful Human Rights Semester in December 2001, Chancellor John Petersen announced his support for human rights programming that would become a permanent part of the University's academic and public program. After much thought and discussion, the Human Rights Planning and Faculty committees chose a permanent name for this program: The UConn Human Rights Initiative: From Ideas to Action.

Many human rights programs are being planned for the upcoming academic year. Visit http://www.sp.uconn.edu/%7Elibadm03/atuconn/hrcalendar.htm for a preliminary list of events and others will be added as information becomes available. A printed Calendar of Events will be distributed at the beginning of the fall semester. The on-line calendar will be continually updated throughout the year. You may view the calendar by sponsor, or chronologically.
