"Puppets through the Lens"
From now until November 30, 2008, come see "Puppets Through the Lens: The Puppet in Film, Television, and the Internet." The exhibit displays a wonderful array of puppets by Rufus and Margo Rose, Bil Baird, Shari Lewis, Jim Henson, Marty Robinson, Tim Lagasse, Jim Napolitano, Bart Roccoberton, Flexitoons, Frank and Elizabeth Haines, Janie Geiser, and others. You can see animatronic puppets from Jurassic Park II, Caddy Shack, and AI: Artificial Intelligence; as well as the original Audrey II carnivorous plant from The Little Shop of Horrors; and wonderful examples of puppets in the avant-garde, including works by Janie Geiser, Paul Zaloom, Xander Marro, and other artists featured in Heather Henson's Handmade Puppet Dreams series. Our hands-on element is the instant creation of internet-ready cut-out puppet shows, made with paper images, a surveillance camera, and a video monitor. Try your hand at making your own Youtube puppet spectacle!
