Final Exam Preparations
April 26, 2004
- Q&A session: Thursday, May 6. 11 a.m. - noon, TLS 154.
- Exam Date: Saturday, May 8, at 8 a.m. in TLS 154
- Exam Essentials: Bring two #2 pencils and a calculator.
- Exam Coverage:
Part 1 = 3rd hour exam. Will cover material from lecture since 2nd hour exam.
Part 2 = cumulative review. Will review materials from entire course, focusing on important concepts and themes. Questions will not be identical to exams 1 or 2, but many will be similar in structure. Some material from last third of course will also be included in this review exam.- Exam Format:
Each exam (Part 1 and Part 2) will contain 35 Multiple Choice questions. We'll try to design the exam so you can finish each part in an hour or less.- Grades:
We will grade the exam on Monday, May 10. Grades will be posted on our website not later than noon on Tuesday, May 11 (barring unforeseen problems).
Molecular and Cell Biology Career Day
April 26, 2004
- Event: Molecular and Cell Biology & the Center for Applied Genetics and Technology will be hosting CAREER DAY for our graduate students and MCB Majors
- Time & Place: Thursday, April 29th from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. in the Biology/Physics Building Room 130
- Details: The format for Career Day will be somewhat casual, offering our graduate students and undergraduate majors an opportunity to speak with representatives from industry about career opportunities in the world of science outside of academia.
- Outline: Representatives from the Connecticut State Police Forensic Science Laboratory, AstraZeneca, Bruker Daltonics, Law Offices of Wiggin & Dana, Corning, and Merck will join us for an afternoon beginning with welcoming remarks and brief introductions to careers in industry. Following the introductions, students will assemble into smaller groups and talk with representatives about current activities and future directions in research in the industrial arena.
- Drop in: If you are unable to attend for the duration, please do stop in for a shorter prior and participate in this important event for our students.
Exam #2
March 29, 2004
- The second hour exam will be this Thursday, April 1, at 8 a.m. Dr. Vinopal will contribute 18 Q based on material he presented, and Dr. Terry will contribute 18 Q based on his material. The exam will be similar in format to the first exam.
- Profs. Terry and Vinopal will be available Wed. Mar. 31 from 3-4:15 p.m. in TLS 154 to answer questions you may have on any of the materials covered so far.
- Prof. Terry will post answers to problem set #4 by early afternoon on Tues. Mar. 30.
Weather and possible cancellations

- As of 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 16, there has been no official word on cancelling any classes due to snow. See UConn's emergency web page for the latest updates.
- If afternoon or evening classes are cancelled due to snow, I will post information for affected students on this web page, and announce it in the next class.
