MORTARBOARD MINUTES 04/14/04 |
1. Mortar Board induction THIS FRIDAY, April 16, 2004 at 8 p.m. in the Konover Auditorium of the Dodd Center. It is very important that people come to the induction. I ask that you come around 7:15-7:30 to help us set up and get the inductees lined up. The actual induction will only be about an hour, if that. I know it's on a Friday, but I would really like to see everyone there.
2. Dr. Miller of the Psychology Department will be the guest speaker at our induction.
3.. Mortar Board shirts are IN!! If you ordered a shirt, please get in touch with Kate at kate.barrett@uconn.edu about picking it up ASAP.
5. Graduation cords are in, so if you ordered one, you will be able to pick it up at the Wednesday, April 21 meeting.
6. Krysta - Aleah needs the money from Yankee Candle to put in the account. If you could get that to her ASAP, that would be great.
7. The Wednesday, April 21 meeting will be our first meeting with the new
members, and they will elect new officers. 8:30 p.m. in SU 242.
MORTARBOARD MINUTES 03/31/04 |
1. Short meeting last week - we invited 38 people to join Mortar Board next
year. Stacy and
Victoria made cute little acceptance "diplomas" that we split up amongst
ourselves to hang on
new people's doors.
2. Mortar Board shirts are IN, so if you ordered one, we have it. (p.s. they look great!)
3. There is NO MEETING on Wednesday, April 7, 2004.
4. The next meeting will be on Wednesday, April 14, at which we will prepare
for the induction
ceremony. The induction is Friday, April 16 at 8 p.m. in the Konover Auditorium,
and it's
really important that you all try to attend. We'll be setting up at 7:30, so
any extra help
would be appreciated.
MORTARBOARD MINUTES 03/24/04 |
1. Long-sleeved Mortar Board T-shirts are in! Contact Kate Barrett or attend the next meeting on March 31 to get your shirt.
2. Thirty-seven new members were chosen as inductees into Mortar Board. Acceptance diplomas will be made on Monday, March 29th at 6:00PM in Bookworms Cafe and delivered on Wednesday, March 31st after the weekly meeting. Feel free to attend either event to help in the acceptance process.
3. We decided on Thursday, April 15th as our first choice date for the induction ceremony for new members. Muhammad will try to book this date at Konover Auditorium in the Dodd Center for a ceremony at 7:00PM. Wednesday, April 14th is the backup date.
4. The introductory meeting for new members will take place on April 21st during the weekly meeting. Voting for new officers will occur, and new members are asked to bring their $65 in dues to this meeting.
5. PIRG is holding the 20th Annual Hunger Cleanup on April 3rd. This is a national
community service fundraiser that raises money for hunger and homelessness relief.

1) Attendance Policy
a) Based on feedback from members, we decided that the attendance policy discussed last week (see MB minutes 10-7-03 at www.sp.uconn.edu/~mortarb) will be official.
i) There was some concern that the requirement of attending 50% of the meetings to be considered an active member was unfair to those with a consistent conflict with the meeting time (work, class, another meeting, etc.).
