Our Guys

Re-read the general assignment information for completing your optional book reading and panel presentation.

Your group presentation will deal with the issues raised by Bernard Lefowitz in this book. The topic for the week is "Fear that Controls Us". This is a very broad subject and your group is to decide how to best present it to the class. (Remember we are studying violence on a continuum.)

Some possible issues to consider.

1. How widespread are the problems raised in this book regarding the social construction of masculinity?
2. What are some possible connections between the way men are taught to value power and violence against women?
3. Did anything in this book remind you of your own experience in high school?
4. What, if anything, can be done about this?
5. How does this book relate to things we have studied thus far this semester?
