I do not give in-class tests in my upper level courses. I find that many students have been taught to cram for such tests in ways that enable them to get a good grade and then forget most of what they have placed in their short term memory. I give take-home exams so that you may have time to think about, process, and integrate information. Hopefully this will enable you to learn in ways that encourage you to remember and apply this material in years to come. I assume that since you have signed up for this course you are interested in the topic and will work to make the best use of your time.
