Each week you MUST send at least one e-mail message to the class (use the "Names File" you have created).
This message must respond to the readings for the week.
On the "Class Schedule", listed under "Assignments", there are "Questions for the Week" that are to be briefly addressed in your post. Generally you are to make comments on what you learned, what you question, what was left out.
Messages require you to do the reading, think about what you have read, AND relate the issues to your current understanding of the topic, personal experience, current events, and/or previous readings and class discussions. This is to be accomplished in brief notes.
Your response to the readings MUST be posted no later than 24 hours before our class meeting for the week. (You will not receive credit for any week's posting that is received after the deadline.)
It will be to your advantage to post early in the week. The more classmates who have written comments on the readings before you the more difficult it may become to add an original point. (Although you may pick up a thread previously started, you will obviously want to offer your own unique insights.)
You may make more than one posting a week. You must read all messages posted.
You may respond to comments made by other students either in class or in their e-mail messages.
You may agree, disagree, clarify, ask questions, send helpful information about upcoming events that are relevant to the course material.
You must be respectful in what you write and how you write it.
You may send me a private message that I will re-post to the class after deleting your header if at any time you want to send a more anonymous message.
