Extensive background in market research and community service in the private/public sectors. A partial list of organizations includes:
The Laboratory, which is located in the Department of Kinesiology, was founded by Andrew Yiannakis in 1992. It is a state of the art facility equipped with interview rooms, a multi-line telephone bank, a data processing center and an observation lab with one-way viewing mirrors. The laboratory conducts all forms of social science research (including market research) and serves as a think-tank/training center for doctoral students. Several distinguished faculty serve as consultants to the Lab including Dr. Cunningham in economics, Dr. Srinivasan in marketing and Dr. Cromley in geography. The Lab also serves as an international resource for the management of information data bases (Free Reference Lists and the World-Wide Ph.D. Program Locator). The lab also houses and manages "PLAYLAB" the web server for the Social Sciences of Sport and Leisure which I secured and manage under the auspices of the lab. The lab is currently operated by several doctoral students. The lab also conducts commercial and community outreach activities and provides a variety of services to the Department, the School and the University. The lab also manages several websites for national/international professional organizations. Playlab also serves as a portal to several tourism websites.
Finally, the lab provides hands-on training to advanced graduate students in several statistical procedures including discriminant analysis, time series analysis (ARIMA), logistic regression,
and multidimensional scaling, among others. The primary functions of the lab are:

Media/Interviews
Interviewed on such Hartford radio stations as WPOP, WTIC, WDRC and by Newsweek-on-Air. Interviewed and/or work cited by AP, Hartford Courant, The Willimantic Chronicle, The Boston Globe, Esquire Magazine, Prevention Magazine, The Hartford Times, The Norwich Bulletin, The Denver Post, Family Life Mag and The Washington Post, among others. Also interviewed on Channel 8 TV, New Haven, ESPN and the Australian Broadcasting Corp (phone interview). My research on Travel and Tourism in Connecticut generated a tremendous amount of media interest and I was interviewed by a number of radio stations on the subject. Over a dozen newspapers reported on the results. Further, my basketball impact study was widely circulated at the university, reported in the media and the university president alluded to the work in a television interview. Most recently, the Leonidas Project to Thermopylae received extensive coverage in the Journal Inquirer and made the front page of the Features section on two occasions. Finally, the Leonidas 2001 Expedition was filmed by Atlantic Productions (UK) for the BBC and the Discovery Channel, June 2001. Recently, interviewed by Athens radio ERT.gr on "Voice of Greece" for his research in Greece and about the 2004 Study Tour on the Olympic Games.
