A little Music
Here is a motley collection of tunes.
There are midi and mp3 versions.
My Tunes
Sometimes I can't help myself.

- Started life as finger-picked guitar chords.
Named after a big rock I once knew.

- Someone I knew was playing with the program
Music Time, and came up with the first three measure of this
theme. I couldn't leave well enough alone.
-
Debbie Come's Home from the Circus
[

]
- A slow little dittie
which evoked an image of a tired child returning from a draining day at
the circus. Described by one unsuspecting listener as a
"dirge".
Dad's Tunes
These are some songs
that my father used to play on the piano.
My father gave me his sheet music and I entered the scores into the
computer.
-
Where Can I Go?
[

]
- from 1948. Written by Sigmunt Berland, who apparently has written
nothing else I know about.
-
Oy s'is Gut
[
midi
]
- A catchy little Yiddish number, circa 1955.
-
Blue Prelude
[
midi
]
- Written in 1933. My father's unofficial theme song, one of the
official theme songs of Woody Herman and his orchestra.
-
Hatikvah
[
midi
]
- Pretty song.
Miscellaneous
Every once in awhile I try to work out some song. These are
the resulting midi files. While I think I've got the melody and chords
right (mostly), the arrangements are pretty primitive.
-
Always and Forever
[

words/chords
]
- From the group Heatwave, 1976. Written by Rod Temperton,
whose other hits include Boogie Nights (1974 by Heatwave),
Give Me the Night (preformed by George Benson in 1980)
and Michael Jackson's Thriller (1984).
Just thought you'd like to know.
-
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
[
midi
]
- Originally from the 1944
movie sound track Meet Me in St. Louis, sung by Judy Garland.
Re-recorded many times. My favorite is by Chrissie Hynde of the
Pretenders.
