Draft of Cognition, Writing, Literature

James Luberda (firstname dot lastname @uconn.edu), University of Connecticut
Updated September 16, 2006

Following the link at the bottom of this page will allow you to download or review on-line the preface and first two chapters of the cognitive science-inflected literature and composition textbook that is currently being developed by James Luberda, PhD candidate in English at the University of Connecticut. Please note the following:

  • You are welcome to view it, print it, and make copies for any academic use. If you do utilize any of this material directly or indirectly in a classroom, I would of course be very interested in hearing about it.

  • Chapter 2 is, all things considered, an odd one to include in the sample, because it is the chapter that is most likely to be dispensed with if the textbook is used in a lit-comp course; however, it has been very well-received by students, and is fairly polished at this stage.

  • Enjoy--and, as always, feedback is very much appreciated.
