Revision Grading Rubric for Essay 3
1) Introduction: a) Does it follow the Swales model? b) Does it clearly indicate what will be covered and why, and to what purpose?
2) Transitions: a) Are paragraphs logically connected? Is it clear when starting a new paragraph what the relationship is between that paragraph’s content and the content in the paragraph previous? b) Do your transitions highlight important changes in topic as important?
3) Use of Sources: a) When stating what a given source argues/believes, do you cite (source, page) and appropriately quote or paraphrase from that source in support of your statement? b) Do you introduce each of your sources to the reader prior to using them? This should, for works central to your essays, probably be taken care of in the introduction. c) Are all quotations integrated and sufficiently discussed?
4) Technical errors: a) Have you proofread to make sure that names and titles are spelled correctly, that words are not missing or misspelled? b) Have you ensured that book and article titles are properly formatted?
