Plugins needed for this course
Last revised: Tuesday, October 1, 2002
What's a Plugin?
Plugins are software programs that extend the capabilities of the Netscape or Internet Explorer Browser in a specific way - giving you, for example, the ability to view video movies from within your browser or to interact with molecular structures.

The following plugins should be installed on your computer in order for you to access the full range of links provided by your instructor for this course. Most plugin pages will ask you to provide some information about yourself when you first register – you should do this, the plugins are free and registration is simply a way for the plugin providers to keep track of how their products are used.
Installing plugins is usually automatic; either the plugin will install itself, or it will mount an installer on your desktop that will handle the installation for you.

CHIME (pronounced like the sound a bell makes) by MDLI. Download here.

Test page for CHIME plugin -- if Chime is installed, you should see a rotating molecule in the center of the page, and clicking the first "X" should change colors of the molecule.
CHIME allows web browsers to view data files containing information about molecular structure as an interactive file.
Note that the CHIME plugin only works with certain browsers. For a discussion of this issue, see Chime: Browsers, Platforms, Installation, Troubleshooting. Check the following list before installing:
