ERIAC's

The first day of the 2011 ERIAC tournament was cancelled. After shooting only one end of practice the judges decided that the weather was just to much and was becoming a hazard and cancelled the shoot for the day due to the wind, rain and cold. On the second day the shooters had to shoot a 36 arrow FITA to determine their individual rankings to be used in the OR round. Liz Didan lead the way for UConn and went on to come in second place for Female Recurve.

After the OR was done team rounds began with both men's and women's recurve having a by the very first round. The men's team was composed of Chris Deck, Lee Loftis and Chris Pelletier while the women's team was made up of Liz Didan, Codi McNeff and Jaime Welsh. The men's team went up against JMU first and managed to win by 1 point after going into a one arrow shootout. The women's team first went up against Penn College and also won. Both teams then moved into the gold medal match where the men's team was up against Penn College and the women's team was up against JMU. For the men's team shoot Penn College started strong with 4 points the very first end compared to our 1. The next end UConn men scored another point while Penn College didn't get any. The major turning point of the round was when the UConn's men team managed to score 4 points in one round with both Chris Pelletier and Lee Loftis getting 2 each while Penn College again didn't manage to get any points. In the final end UConn men up 2 points Chris Pelletier hit 1 point while Penn College came back with 3 points making the round a tie leading to a 1 arrow per person shootoff to determine the gold medal winner. Chris Pelletier managed to pull through again and get a hit to win the match since Penn College was unable to get a hit. The women's team also went to a shootout and Jaime Welsh helped to secure the win by getting the arrow that was closets to the center.

Since we weren't able to shoot mixed team rounds on Saturday they just took the combined scores of the top men and women for recurve and then compound to determine the rankings. Chris Pelletier and Liz Didan were the top scoring archers for the UConn team so their combined team managed to get them second place for the Mixed Recurve Team Round. Chriss Pelletier managed to make the All East team in third place and Liz Didan took 5th place for women's recurve. Overall UConn had a great weekend bringing home a lot of wins for the school with Liz leading the team by ranking in every single component.

Thanks for all the team members the made the drive out to Pennsylvania for the tournament and for sticking it out through the weather this weekend. Hopefully the trip back wasn't to tiring.

UConn Outdoor Open

We would like to thank everyone for coming out to the UConn Outdoor Open tournament the first weekend of April. While it was nice and sunny the wind was the main problem with many of the compounds leaving after the first half.

Stands

Thanks for all the help in building the new target stands for the outdoor range. All that should be left is painting them at a later date.
