Year in Review - June 2000 to June 2001

During the past year, the UConn-ANC Partnership has organized numerous events and activities. The caliber of all events and activities yielded enormous attention and visibility for the University of Connecticut. Such activities have clearly had significant impact on not only the University, but also the State of Connecticut. The UConn-ANC Partnership has become a great catalyst in strengthening and creating opportunities in areas such as multicultural studies, human rights and international relations. Although the Partnership office has been in existence since only the spring on 1999, it’s programs and activities are quickly assisting to propel the University of Connecticut’s reputation into national and international standings.

Visit and Lecture by Dr. Edna Van Harte, Executive Director of the Desmond Tutu Educational Trust. Read more

Visit and Lecture by Professor Nasila Rembe, UNESCO “Oliver Tambo” Chair of Human Rights at the University of Fort Hare. Read more

Visit by administrative team from the University of Fort Hare to New York City and Hartford. Read more

Visit and Lecture by Mr. Joel Carlson, anti-apartheid activist and Lawyer. Read more

November 30 – Dec. 4
Visit by Advocate Dumisa Buhle Ntsebeza who was appointed by former President Nelson Mandela to the well-respected position as Commissioner of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Read more

Two South African Students began work in a Master’s program at the University. Read more
